Scott, I think you have an idiosyncratic and ultimately inaccessible way of talking about things. I'd love to continue the conversation, but you need to explain yourself in words that aren't made up. I don't mean to be cruel but it seems that's is what you have done.
For the most part, I want to use words as they have been defined. I want to work with what we have been given. IT's ok to invent new words sometimes, when a new concept really is in play, but I think they must be clearly defined and make some sense.
This does not seem to be the case with what you are saying.
"First Things means, first, that the first thing to be said about public life is that public life is not the first thing. First Things means, second, that there are first things, in the sense of first principles, for the right ordering of public life."
“A free society cannot survive if we are so free that nothing is expected of us.”

Hi, Zach.
For some reason, this doesn't surprise me at all.
haha
Hi Zach,
I finally got around to posting about my American Catholic comments and about your questioning my terminology.
To me, you seem to want to talk about ideas, but only if those ideas are not new ideas and the words used to describe those ideas are not new.
Doing this pretty much confines one to the past, and saying how great it was.
Sorry, but the future looks much better to me.
